Extra Line in List of Table between chapters and appendices

Hi, I'm creating a list of tables. When I set up the listing for the
apprenix portion, an extra space appears before the list. Consequently, I
have a LOT for the chapters portion of the document a space and then the rest
of the LOT for the appendices. How do I get rid of that space? Deleting it
causes the next line to lose its leader dots and I'm chasing through the
entire LOT to fix.

This is one of the frustrating features of the TOC field. The paragraph mark
that appears below a given TOC, which appears to be an empty paragraph, is
actually *inside* the TOC field (as you can see if you Alt+F9), so you can't
delete it (and you can run into trouble if you even try to put anything
useful in that apparently empty paragraph). You can try formatting it very
small (1 point), though, and see if that works.
