I am getting gaps in my text. How do I get rid of them?
Like the subject said, I am getting gaps in my text. How do I get rid of
them? Also, when I try to print the files (novel manuscript) at a store like Staples, I get this: @ instead of this " for every line. How do I get rid of thes problems? |

The @ for " suggests that the document may have been converted from
WordPerfect. If you have the WP Typographic Symbols font on your computer, you won't notice that it is being used for "curly quotes," but the computer at Staples, which does not have the font installed, will substitute the corresponding character from your body text font. You can start by temporarily uninstalling the font from your computer so that you can see where problems are occurring. Use Find and Replace to replace the symbols. You may also need to change the body text font to one you are confident will be installed on the output computer (if you stick with the Windows core fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, and Courier, you'll certainly be safe). I'm not sure what might be causing the gaps. Can you describe them in more detail? Are they gaps between words, between the letters in the words, between lines, paragraphs, or what? -- Suzanne S.
