how to use the Prob function in a list of averages to find the le
Hi ,
How to use the Prod Function in a list of averages to find the lease common value ! here is an example. AVRG 26.27 ------------------- 29.27 25.61 26.17 25 25.32 -------------- 3 | These are a list of Over and Under values of the above -0.66 -0.1 -1.27 -0.95 -------------- 3 | These are a list of compile Positive and Negitive values also average | trying to locate which one is within range of the average, one group -0.745 | is always known ,in this case it's (25) of the above values, which now leave (4) items to be measure by an average, maybe if I could find the Standard Error in the Averaging,it would help in locating(plus or munis) and the amount ! Thanks in advance Joseph.. |

Is this what you want?
B2=Average=26.27, C2 =stdev=1.729 on your data The standardize function is STANDARIZE(x,Average,Standard deviation) x=29.27 results in 1.7325649 Use this formula to find the x using goal seek. (Tools, Goal seek) Enter 30 in say g1, In g2 type =standardize(g1,29.27,1.7325649) In gaol seek Set cell = the formula (g2) in the change cell type 1.745 the by changing cell is g1 Repeat and set change to -.745 These result in values of 28.86784223 and 24.98572503 Regards Peter Atherton "josephWard6" wrote: Hi , How to use the Prod Function in a list of averages to find the lease common value ! here is an example. Hi Peter,
and thanks for the reply. Maybe that I am not explaining myself good enough to be understood here! The example that I posted was all average results, and decribled as positive and negitive category, which mean I am try to predict a fluctuation of the (Arithmetic Mean) "right or left and by how much" in a simple and dynamic way. Problem with the standard deviation as an analytical tool : It is distorted by extreme values (extremely high or extremely low) in the data series. The key item here is "Perimeter Range" by that I mean all items can be accounted for,for example the value(25) is know,so actual it become a base part of the Perimeter Range, question now ?(A)will it stay"Put",and if so "why",(B)and if not"Which way (Plus or Minus) will it move ?,(C) and by what amount ?, all within the "Perimeter Range". So my thinking was if all the elements was account-for,the Probability "Prob-Function" could be use to give a value to these elements ,in this way they could be manipulated (Randomly) in a (known-Way). Look at the (2) known available "Answeres" in the Perimeter Range which is (positive "3" and a Negitive "-0.745"),If it move to "3" than it would be "On Average" if not , there are (4) items less than the(Arthimetic Mean) namely " -0.66,-0.1,-1.27,-0.95 "by measure these (known) negitives as a group,You will notice two(2) things either it will stay"put" or will move to one of the listed items . P.S. By the way, the results was to item ( -0.66) So now "After the Fact" we know how much "Value" the move was (-0.085) ! Any thing along these lines would be helpful. Again, Thanks in advance.
