Outlook hangs when accessing IMAP inbox
Setup:
Outlook XP on new WinXP (pro) computer (dual processor, 1 gb memory). Imap configured to use SSL (self signed) MANY folders on server (100) The Imap inbox has a shortcut on the Outlook menubar. Network connection is via 100-mb ethernet connection. If the user has the Folder List open and selects the "+" next to the Imap account, then scrolls down to the inbox, everything works fine. Specifically, when he clicks the "+", Outlook asks if he wants to accept the self-signed certificate. When he clicks "ok", the connection is made and the folders on the imap server are displayed. He can then scroll down to the Inbox folder and read his new email. If, otoh, the user selects the Inbox shortcut on the menubar (the one created by dragging the above icon to the desktop), Outlook freezes completely. Specifically, OL asks if he wants to accept the certificate, he clicks yes, and then nothing happens (freeze screen). The task manager shows Outlook as "not responding" after 10-20 seconds (the cpu activity is virtually nil). Advice on what is going on? -- + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Chris Barnes AOL IM: CNBarnes Yahoo IM: chrisnbarnes Computer Systems Manager ph: 979-845-7801 Department of Physics fax: 979-845-2590 Texas A&M University |

Outlook hangs when accessing IMAP inbox
Chris Barnes wrote: Hello? Testing 1 2 3... "If you can't get an answer, please don't take it personally that we don't feel we can help you. Sometimes the members of the asked group may simply not know the answer. No response is not the same as being ignored, though admittedly it's hard to spot the difference from outside. In general, simply re-posting your question is a bad idea. This will be seen as pointlessly annoying. There are other sources of help you can go to, often sources better adapted to a novice's needs." - URL:http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html Thor -- http://www.anta.net/ |
