Organize Multiple "Views" Within Same Show?
I have a body of slides that can be organized into
different views (that is, there are product slides that can be organized by business problem addressed, or business unit served, or target audience). I want the presenter to be able to indicate their desired view at the beginning of the presentation and then have the slide order dynamically adjust as appropriate. There are only three views to reflect, but the presentation is already very large. A clumsy way to do this would be to replicate each slide three times, pre- organized into the appropriate order, but there are far too many slides for this. Is this do-able? |

I wonder if custom shows'd do you.
You can choose the slides to include in each and their order w/o having to dupe the slides. Greg
Steve is right, Custom Shows will get you most of the way. Here's how to set it up (basically): 1) Do Slide Show-- Custom Show 2) Create a new show 3) Move the slides for the first view from the left column to the right using the Add button 4) Re-order the slides as needed by dragging them up and down in the list or by using the arrows that are below the right hand column 5) Give the custom show a name and click OK 6) Repeat steps 2 - 5 for each view That gets you the differing views. To use this scheme, set up a slide that has one box for each custom show. Set up a hyperlink from the box to the custom show. If you set the hyperlink to "show and return", the presentation will come back to your menu when the custom show is done. If you don't set it that way, when the custom show is done, the presentation will exit when the custom show is done. Now, if you want your presenters to be able to monkey with the slide order within the custom shows, you will either need to tell them to do the changing before they present or write some macros to allow them to build (adjust) the custom show during presentation run time. -- Kathryn Jacobs, Microsoft MVP PowerPoint and OneNote Author of Kathy Jacobs on PowerPoint - Available now from Holy Macro!
