Outlook Connector and Personal Folder
I have been using Outlook 2003 with its great features including Business Contact Manager at home for several months. I'm an independent consultant and so don't have an exchange server for my e-mail, but have been using pop3 accounts for 3 e-mail addresses. One of these addresses was my personal address which is an MSN.com address.
Recently the MSN pop3 servers have not been working. Their only suggestion to me was to install MSN9 and use the Outlook Connector to get my HTTP msn e-mail...or log in via a browser to get it. I like outlook because I can store communication via multiple channels in one place. I can coordinate my business and personal calendars and other information. However, the OUtlook Connector forced the creation of a new folder set for the MSN mail. The calendar, contacts, and inbox are not part of my previous "personal folders", and thus all the advantages of that coordination is gone. How do I set up this MSN.com HTTP mail service to work with my existing inbox, contacts, and calendar folders? Thank you for any help! |

you can't...
Now that you installed MSN9, see if pop is working again. I don't know if it fixes broken access, but new accounts have pop access. You can still use the calendar and contacts in your mail folder - and since you use ol2003, use the msn inbox shortcut on the favorites folder list to read mail. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Join OneNote Tips mailing list: http://www.onenote-tips.net/ Vote for your favorite Outlook and Exchange utilities in the Slipstick Ratings Raffle at http://www.slipstick.com/contest/ "MRN" wrote in message ... Well, Favorite Folders list aside, having to maintain a secondary set of folders kind of defeats the purpose.
And the POP3 servers run by MSN are down, that's confirmed from MSN. They're broken and so far not fixed. Kind of sucks being a paying customer and getting worse service than is provided by the free version. "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: you can't... yea, I just found about the pop servers down. I use the connector
exclusively and wasn't aware of it. Some versions of MSN software (7 or 8?) disabled POP access and according to MSN support, only 'legacy' users have pop. I know that new MSN9 Premium users have pop too and thought maybe your account was somehow disabled and accessing it once via msn9 would enable it again. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Join OneNote Tips mailing list: http://www.onenote-tips.net/ Vote for your favorite Outlook and Exchange utilities in the Slipstick Ratings Raffle at http://www.slipstick.com/contest/ "MRN" wrote in message ...
