Default No program is registered to open a pdf file hyperlink

I would like to hyperlink to a pdf file on one of my slides. I am using
PowerPoint 2007. After creating the hyperlink when I try to open the file I
get the message "No program is registered to open this file.
Can anyone tell me what I should do to register Adobe with PPT so I can open
the hyperlink?
Thank you

What happens if you double-click the PDF from Windows Explorer, not from
within PPT?
