There is a suggested fix for this issue that you are experiencing.
First take a look at your computer really good. Second :Then make sure = that the signal from the brain to the finger is working properly. Third = check if buttons on keyboard are not in the wrong places. --=20 Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup which means Microsoft does not
frequent this newsgroup. The Suggestion type post you used is not intended for Microsoft rants - we don't want to hear them or your profanity. We're just a bunch of users like you who share what we've learned with each other and try to help each other out. In the future, please remember this and conduct yourself and language accordingly. Here's an article that will provide you with the steps you need to take to correct the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;555169 Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Microsoft provides a place in the web portal to the newsgroups in which users may enter suggestions. That's how we get these posts. Several possibilities. 1. Microsoft means for these to be posted in newsgroups and DOES read them but doesn't acknowledge doing so. 2. Microsoft means for these to be posted in newsgroups and DOES NOT read them, in which case this is a case of "Please deposit all comments and suggestions in the circular file." 3. Microsoft doesn't mean for these to be posted in newsgroups, but can't be bothered to change this. 4. Microsoft doesn't mean for these to be posted in newsgroups, but no one knows how to fix it. It's hard for me to decide whether #2 or #3 is more likely. |

Hi, Harlan,
Beth is well aware of the suggestion mechanism, as she has been a volunteer consultant to Microsoft regarding that specific feature for over a year. If I may speak for her, she is offering the idea that the suggestion mechanism is not intended for rude, unconstructive rants. It was created in the spirit of taking in constructive suggestions, and Microsoft will read the suggestions with the most votes. -- Susan Ramlet MVP - Office Please reply to the newsgroups where others may benefit. If I may speak for her, she is offering the idea that the suggestion mechanism is not intended for rude, unconstructive rants. It was created in the spirit of taking in constructive suggestions, and Microsoft will read the suggestions with the most votes. .... Which brings up the issue of voting. This has been discussed in the Excel newsgroups. The only way to vote on these suggestions is through Microsoft's web portal, so the votes would come from a very skewed sample of newsgroup readers. Also, posting or voting through Microsoft's web portal requires signing in with a .NET Passport. The claimed reason is to ensure the poster's identity. In fact, it's easy to spoof .NET Passports. http://groups.google.com/group/micro...94b03115283f6a (or http://makeashorterlink.com/?C4CD23EBB ). Also, if what you write is true, then what Beth wrote contains one error: Microsoft *does* read some things posted in the newsgroups. As for rants, if one uses a real newsreader rather than relying on browser-based portals, it's easy to filter out nearly all unpleasantness. 'Course then we couldn't vote on it. |

oups.com... These would be more likely: 1. Microsoft means for these to be posted in newsgroups and DOES read them but doesn't acknowledge doing so. 1. Microsoft means for Suggestions for application requests/wishes to be posted and will read those which receive the highest votes. For example: http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...6ae&sloc=en-us http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...836&sloc=en-us http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...199&sloc=en-us 2. Microsoft means for these to be posted in newsgroups and DOES NOT read them, in which case this is a case of "Please deposit all comments and suggestions in the circular file." 2. Microsoft does not read all Suggestion type posts. 3. Microsoft doesn't mean for these to be posted in newsgroups, but can't be bothered to change this. 3. Microsoft doesn't mean for Suggestion posts to be utilized for Microsoft Rants. 4. Microsoft doesn't mean for these to be posted in newsgroups, but no one knows how to fix it. 4. Microsoft, and the rest of us, are attempting to find a fix for the misuse of Suggestion type posts. I'm all for the creation of microsoft.public.rant.to.ms newsgroup but they won't go for my suggestion. grin ~Beth Melton |

ups.com... Also, if what you write is true, then what Beth wrote contains one error: Microsoft *does* read some things posted in the newsgroups. I wrote: "Microsoft does not frequent this newsgroup". A rare viewing and response to Suggestions which receive the highest vote count doesn't mean they frequent the newsgroup. (Perhaps if Suggestions are utilized as they are intended then they may start frequenting the newsgroups.) I can foresee you splitting hairs over this and since I abhor split hair (Hey, I spend a lot of $$ to keep my hair in good shape g ) I'm not going down that road with you. You are quite intelligent and I know you recognize the basis of my reply, which is there is no need for profanity and rants. ~Beth Melton |

.... 4. Microsoft, and the rest of us, are attempting to find a fix for the misuse of Suggestion type posts. .... Misuse as ranting: text filters. They work for filtering spam. They could work for filtering rants. Misuse as directed to newsgroups: there's logic that adds a footer that distinguishes suggestions from other posts. That logic could redirect suggestions to different newsgroups or nonnewsgroup forums. It's still a skewed population who'd vote. Obviously no one who uses a newsreader to read newsgroups, so few sophisticated users. Also no one who uses non-Microsoft web portals. Finally, no one who wants to avoid using .NET passwords. That leaves? |
