Default HOW DO I OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT CD-KEY?

Legally, you have no other option open to you but to upgrade or obtain
another copy + key.. either will cost you.. c'est la guerre..

No key, no install that works..

Time to upgrade, methinks.. an upgrade only requires a key for the higher
level software, so a lack of a key for Office 2000 won't matter anyway..

Oh yea, I forgot, if you will read after you click on "KeyFinder" at the
magicaljellybean.com website, it will direct you to "frequently asked
questions". In those questions someone asks why the keyfinder does not
find
Office 2000 so obviously, it doesn't work on exactly what I am in need
of.
Go Figure.

Any other help you can think of ??

I've called the 800 number and you don't have to pay anything to get a new
product key. This is coming from someone whose been there, done that. Being
an MVP doesn't mean that you have always practiced the utmost care with your
CDs and keys. ;-)

JoAnn,

The 800 number that I have for Microsoft is "fee based", 800-936-5700, you
can only get help for a charge and you can only pay using a credit card.
Maybe I'm missing something here but that is what it said when I called
it.
If you have different information, please let me know.

Someone who wrote to me right before your response suggested that I
upgrade.
Ya know what, that is all fine and good IF I had the money to do so. If
an
upgrade is free, someone please let me know. I'm sure it's not tho.
Thank

Reading the answers it appears that you may not be able to replace the
key,
I'm not sure keys for Office 2000 are available any more?

Try this:

It's free and it's compatible to a great extent so give it a try and if
you
don't like it delete it. You'll be out nothing but some time.

Okay JoAnn, I just called that 800 number again and it says and I quote,
"Welcome to Microsoft's FEE BASED support service", then it goes on to
instruct you on which credit card you can use for the call, then it has 5
options for selecting. The first time I had ever called the number, I
selected option number 5 which is customer service and the only option that
applies to my situation. Option 4 was to be selected if your software came
with your computer which mine did not - I purchased my MS Office 2000 Pro- CD
when I bought the computer from Circuit City and installed it myself. The
first 3 options were about incidents which didn't apply to my situation either

When i did call before, I was immediately asked by the person which card I
wanted to use to pay for this support call, that is why I have repeatedly
said that I could not call the number for support because I did not own a
credit card anymore.....

- BUT I will call it again in the a.m. and select each and every option
until I can find someone to help me since you say you have used it before
because I'm sure you aren't making it up, so i will try again.

Again, Thanks so much for your response. I really appreciate it. Have a
Great evening.

Okay, then that's not the right number. Let me see what I can find out.

From "How and when to contact Microsoft Customer Service"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295539/

"For information about replacement manuals, disks, drivers and service
packs, product orders, policies related to copying software on additional
computers, licensing, and product registration, Microsoft Customer Service
is available Monday through Friday, from 6:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Pacific
time. To contact Microsoft Customer Service, call (800) 426-9400. "

I'm fairly certain that's the number I called.

Yes, they are - or at least still were as of spring of this year. I
suggested she call but she said something about needing a credit
card
to
call an 800 number. I don't know why she would think that but I did
suggest
she call.

I'M DESPERATE, PLEASE ANYONE HELP IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I simply
cannot
afford to purchase another copy of Office 2000, that is just NOT
possoble.

Reading the answers it appears that you may not be able to
replace
the
key,
I'm not sure keys for Office 2000 are available any more?

Try this:

http://openoffice.org.

It's free and it's compatible to a great extent so give it a try
and
if
you
don't like it delete it. You'll be out nothing but some time.
