I've been all through that area Bob, and I can't see anything relating to
signatures, or whatever it may be called within this BBS setup. If I
remember correctly, it is Signature.

As to the Signature, see my other reply. As to the two installations.
Tablet and Desktops don't have exactly the same operating system
installed, so your mileage may vary there. navigation does show up with
Office 2003 and Windows XP, but you don't need Windows XP to install
Office XP. So is Window XP on the desktop? And if so did you check the
language bar settings and properties for more options.

As to your questions about the differences in installations, there are none.
If you are asking about the way I install them anyway. I install the
program the exact same way on the desktop as I do on the tablet. But as I
said in my original post, there are things that I cannot do on the desktop
like, use my voice to run a program like internet explorer, and then while in
IE bring down the menus...etc. It seems as though the installation on the
desktop is limiting me to using voice recognition on programs such as word or
for another example, I just turned on voice recognition to see if it would
work in this message. It looks as though it is going to allow me to use it
in this message. So I guess what I'm saying his, voice recognition is
allowing me to dictate on the desktop but nothing else. I almost forgot,
voice recognition will not bring up anything when I say "what can I say".

Thank you for your time.

Just a couple of things,

1. Be patient it could be a day or two before someone has an answer.
2. What other differences between the two installations?
3. Did you try r-clicking the language bar and look through the settings
and properties?
4. "The signature down there" is determined by what ever program you
happen to be using to create and post the message to the newsgroup.
5. Don't "top post" with the -- separator, in your "sig" as it truncates
the rest of the message when someone tries to reply.

Sorry I can't take you further there as I don't have an account. I use
the newsreader to access the newsgroups.

Any further comments on what I mentioned in your response about the email
program? I don't use an email program for these posts.

Your headers indicate you're using the MS web interface. It's hard to tell
which one, though if you want to give a URL of which page you're coming in
from, I can give you better instrux.

If you're using http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx
there's an "edit profile" button right between the Sign In/Out button and
Help up in the upper right-hand corner.

I have Windows XP Proffesional installed on my desktop. As I understand it,
the tablet edition is just a subset of XP. So in essence I have the same
operating system on both machines, it's just that the tablet edition (the
subset of xp) is active and functional on the tablet pc, and xp prof is
active and functional on the desktop. So I don't think the problem is there.
(I.M.H.O.) In regards to the settings within the language bar settings, yes
I've been in there on both machines and they are set up exactly the same as
far as I can tell. Also, as far as I can tell there is NO other settings
that could be changed that would affect the problem that I'm having on the
desktop, and the reason I say that is because all the settings seem to relate
to text only allowing the dictation part to be extended to other programs
such as Notepad.

Thank you very much for your posts/help. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Lonnie,

Speech functionallity for Dictation / Command was added in Office XP, kept in Office 2003 without any significant changes and is
being dropped from Office 2007 (Windows Vista will cover that, similar to how Windows XP Tablet PC edition does more than Office XP
or Office 2003 now).

The main difference in the 'alternative input' tools provided with Office XP vs 2003 was that you didn't need the separate Tablet PC
pack for Office with Office 2003 that was made available for Office XP

Ok, try this path and see where we get.

Method 1.
R-click in the Language bar, pick Settings, in "Installed Services"
window, scroll down to and select "Speech Recognition", click Properties
Button, Click "Voice Commands". Pick options.

Method 2.

Start button, Settings, Control Panel, Regional and Language Options,
Languages tab, Details button, in "Installed Services" window, scroll
down to and select "Speech Recognition", click Properties Button, Click
"Voice Commands". Pick options.

Thanks for your patience Bob. I did as you suggested and found that all
options were checked. Only two that I can see within that group are related
to voice commands. They are, navigation, and possibly keyboard simulation.
At any rate, every single option is checked. Any more suggestions that she
may be able to come up with is appreciated. if you want to drop this like a
heavy rock, I will understand.

thank you again.

Hello Bob and thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry, but I'm not grasping how your answer relates to my problem .
Are you saying that the program is not supposed to act the same way on the
desktop as it does on the tablet? If so that would be a bummer, as I would
like it to operate the same on the desktop as it does on the tablet, the
functionality on the tablet is better since I can use "voice command" to open
and clost programs...etc., but it doesn't do that on my desktop that has xp
pro on it. If the program is not supposed to act the same on the desktop,
then please let me know (in laymens terms please) why it is like that. Thank
you for your time and trouble.

Umm, is there a Mode key assigned for switching between Dictation and
Command/navigation modes?
