Can I have different forms come up depending on the value in a fie
As I scroll through the records in my form, I want to see different versions
of my form (i.e. different text boxes, different buttons, different checkboxes) depending on the value contained in a particular field in the record. |

Ow. WHY!? You can do so, in the Form's Current event - by either opening another form at each record, or (better) by putting all the possible controls on your main form and making them visible or invisible. But this will make your application a) very slow and b) extremely confusing for the user! The need to do this makes me very suspicious of the normalization of your tables. Could you explain the rationale? John W. Vinson[MVP] |

Can I have different forms come up depending on the value in a
Thanks for the reply.
I have a small law practice in which I act for injured people. I have created a data base to keep track of pertinent information about each client. The problem is that some clients were injured in a car accident and some were injured in a slip-and-fall accident. Each different kind of injury (i.e. car accident, slip-and-fall etc.) has its own unique pertinent information. I have all the clients in a parent table named "Clients" in which there is a field named "category". When I call up the record of a client who was injured in a car accident (i.e. where the data in the category field is "car accident") I want to see a form that has certain fields (contained in the "Clients" table) such as "accident_report_obtained". Similarly, when I call up the record of a client who was injured in a slip-and-fall (i.e. where the data in the category field is "slip and fall") I want to see different fields (also contained in the "Clients" table) such as "notice_sent_to_municipality". Ideally, as I scroll through the records (next, next, next), I will see alternating forms (car accident or slip and fall). The above is a simplified explanation as there are maybe 5 categories of injury each with its own set of unique fields. All of the forms would have the basic contact fields (such as name, telephone number of client). Thanks. Any suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated. (If you think it is best to have hidden fields, I can do that...but I tend to think that this is not the way to go because each form has quite a few unique fields such that the various text boxes and labels would have to be stacked on top of each other in order to fit in the available screen space).
