Default Fix field will not fit in record error when exporting to dbase

What do I need to alter in order to successfully export to dbaseIV when I get
a "Field will not fit in record" error?

The most likely cause is that your Access field is longer than your dBase
field. I.E. The Access text field size is 150 characters and the dBase text
field is only 149 characters.

If that's not it, post back.

Good luck.

Thx for the response, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to design your
dbase file when you're exporting from access to dbase. It just creates all
the parameters for you, correct? I will check the exporting/importing
discussion groups to see if anything is posted there.

Sorry about that. I was thinking more of an export into an existing table
instead of an export to a new, Access created table.

Although this article is not specifically for Access, this might be
something to look into.

Also, dBase has a 10 character field name limit and does not like spaces or
special characters.

Personally, I'd create the table in dBase, link it, and export the data with
an append query.

Good luck.
