Default Options Settings Keep Getting Unchecked

I'm using Word in Office 2002. Some of the changes I made to Tools Options keep getting undone when I exit Word. For as long as I can remember the Options for Spelling & Grammar tab had the following options checked: "Check spelling as you type" and "Always suggest corrections".

Now, every time I exit and re-enter Word these options get unchecked. Given my poor spelling, this tends to make me look like an idiot! Can anyone suggest a solution?

Default Options Settings Keep Getting Unchecked

Hi,
I would suggest that you follow the following Knowledge based article that
discuses methods for resetting user variables back to default and in this
way making certain that word starts to work as it did the first time you
installed it.

289294 HOW TO: Reset User Options and Registry Settings in Word 2002
