Default Sharing Calendar

I have MS Office 2003 and would like to share my calendar
with my internal team. can this only be done via a
exchange server? are there any other options?

I'm correct in thinking that the calendar can not be sent
via a file, correct?

No, for a list of solutions have a look on:

You could export this calendar into a PST file and this file you could send
via email. If you want to synchronize clendars with another office, you will
need a Dial in or a VPN (Virtuell Private Network) acess to the different
computers, than ou can share the calendars directly with some tool that are
listed on slipstick. Some solutions work over an email synchronization like
Netfolders. Netfolders is an email synchronization but i is supported only
for Outlook 98/2000 but all this information you will find on slipstick.
