Microsoft Office button does not work for Word and Excel 2007
Hello,
One of the client PC was having this problem. Regardless of who logging on to the PC including domain admin, when you click on the Microsoft Office button, nothing happens. No dropdown menu list like it supposed to. It only displays the tooltip. We had tried to uninstall & reinstall, restart and even repair. Nothing works. Does anyone has this issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. KC |

Does the problem occur if you start Word or Excel in Safe Mode? Exit the
applications, hold Ctrl, and start Word or Excel. Continue holding Ctrl until you are prompted to start in Safe Mode. Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for assistance by email cannot be acknowledged. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Beth Melton Microsoft Office MVP Coauthor of Word 2007 Inside Out: http://www.microsoft.com/MSPress/boo...x#AboutTheBook Word FAQ: http://mvps.org/word TechTrax eZine: http://mousetrax.com/techtrax/ MVP FAQ site: http://mvps.org/ "KC" wrote in message news Hello, One of the client PC was having this problem. Thanks for replying. We had tried to start Word and Excel in Safe Mode: /a
from Run. Yet, we still experienced the same problem. I will try holding the Ctrl key suggestion and see what it does. Will post response later. Thanks, KC. Microsoft Office button does not work for Word and Excel 2007
I have the exact same issue. I purchased 3 new Dell Optiplex 330's with Windows XP Pro and Office 2007 Basic. The install and activation for Office went fine however in both Excel and Word the Office button only shows the "tips" menu and not the usual "File" menu stuff. I have tried all the recommended stuff from the previous posts but it still does not work. Any help would be appreciated. dfranko -- dfranko |

Microsoft Office button does not work for Word and Excel 2007
::I was having the same issue at my work. But my issue was that I was using VNC to access the computer. It is an app that allows me access to their workstation from mine. Are you at the workstation or are you using any kind of app to view the desktop. Still not sure why it was not working, I could click on everything else fine just not the Office Button. :: -- Jaydog75 |

Microsoft Office button does not work for Word and Excel 2007
Not sure if this will help or not... We had this exact same issue and it puzzled me for some time. I was using Dameware to access the PC's that had this issue with the Office button. I have heard PCanywhere also does the same thing. Try RDP-ing into the PC if this applies to you - it certainly worked for me. I was just shocked that the users never told me there wasn't actually an issue! |

Microsoft Office button does not work for Word and Excel 2007
The issue for me turned out to be between the remote software and Office 2007. It did not show the dropdown menu on the machine I was using to remote, but when I went to the remote machine, the dropdown menu was there. I was using the Altiris Deployment Console, but I read the same thing happened with other remote software packages. -- agiles |

Microsoft Office button does not work for Word and Excel 2007
I was using Dameware to reconfig a remote PC for a new user. Had the same problem. Even had user sit at PC and try the button, same result, but I was still attached through Dameware. I have it resolved now. In Dameware I had "Disable Show Transparent Windows" under View turned on. Turned the choice off and the button gave me my dropdown menu from all the Office 2007 modules that use it. Possible the other remote packages have a similar display control setting. -- mc2k |
